Stormwater run-off across impermeable surfaces such as roads and parking lots collects pollutants that enter the stormwater management system. Debris, sediment, oils and greases and other pollutants eventually end up in streams, rivers, lakes and other watercourses or are intercepted by treatment plants that have to remove them prior to release.

EnviroStream filter from IPEX is a highly efficient system that drops in to existing or new catch basins. It removes up to 90% of petroleum-based hydrocarbons as well as suspended solids and heavy metals. ecoStorm from Royal Environmental is a two chamber – vortex designed system for removing sediments and floating debris from stormwater.

ecoLine-b from Royal Environmental is an oil water separator that traps liquids with a specific gravity less than 0.95 contributing to an effluent with less than 5 mg/L (5ppm) of residual petroleum contamination. A coalescing media that enhances the accumulation of small oil droplets coupled with an automatic shut-off valve that closes when maximum storage capacity has been reached allows ecoLine-b to be an cost effective BMP. Flow rates up to 320 USGPM (20L/s) may be accommodated and maintenance of the system may be achieved from ground level. To ensure optimal functioning, a grit interceptor may be installed upstream to remove solids and buffer the temperature of the influent allowing the coalescing media to operate unhindered.
