Rainwater Harvesting
Overview
Rainwater is a resource that can be collected and re-used in irrigation and other gray water uses. Rainwater harvesting requires not only a storage tank, but also methods to remove pollutants. Whether you are a homeowner or a commercial/industrial user, there are easily assembled systems to meet your requirements.
Above Ground Rainwater Harvesting
Bushman Canada manufactures above ground storage tanks and devices for your rainwater harvesting needs. More than a rain-barrel, the rainwater harvesting system from Bushman can include:
- Storage tank
- Leaf catcher/filter screen
- First flush removal device
- Mosquito/bug screens
- Make up float valve
- Overflow device
- Transfer pump
From slim-line tanks for fitting under your house eaves (up to 620 USGal – 2,350 L), to large round tanks for commercial/industrial applications (2,690 USGal – 10,200 L) there is a tank for you.

Below Ground Rainwater Harvesting
For large capacity rainwater storage, the Raintank (or Arched Chamber) System can be used for storage.
The concept shown is a simple way of creating a rainwater harvesting system in a stormwater application.
Whether you are designing an above ground or below ground rainwater harvesting system, be sure to comply with local regulations for rainwater re-use.
Please note that Emco can provide you with full-design irrigation systems through our many branches, and in BC irrigation specialists Van-Kel.
